In Memoriam: Susan Margaret Setta, 1949-2018

Susan Setta, associate professor of philosophy and religion at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, died last month at her home in Natick, Massachusetts, after a long illness. She was 69 years old.
A native of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Dr. Wilson was an alumna of Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. She earned a master’s degree in religious studies from the Hartford Seminary and a Ph.D. in American religious studies at Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Setta served on the faculty at Northeastern University for 40 years. Her most popular course focused on the meaning of death in various religious traditions.
Dr. Setta served two terms as the chair of the philosophy and religion department and was a founding member of the Jewish studies and Women, Gender and Sexuality studies programs. Dr. Setta was past president of the New England Region of the American Academy of Religion.
