In Memoriam: Karen Tinsley, 1972-2018

Karen Tinsley, a senior public service associate in the department of financial planning, housing, and consumer economics in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences at the University of Georgia, died after being hit by a truck while riding her bicycle in Oconee County, Georgia. She was 45 years old.
Dr. Tinsley also served as the director of the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing program and as director of the Housing and Demographics Research Center at the university. She began working at the university in 2002 as a research coordinator.
A native of Augusta, Georgia, Dr. Tinsley was a graduate of Syracuse University in New York. She held a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Georgia.
