Sweet Briar College Provides Details on Its New Core Curriculum

Sweet Briar College, the liberal arts educational institution for women in Virginia, has announced its new core curriculum which is focused on women’s leadership. The new core curriculum was designed to meet student demands for academic interests and career training.
The 10 courses for the new core curriculum are:
- Design Thinking
- Argument and Persuasion
- Women and Gender in the World
- Sustainable Systems
- Expression and the Arts
- STEM in Society
- Decisions in a Data-driven World
- Contemporary Questions in Ethics and Human Difference
- Leadership Realized I
- Leadership Realized II
Meredith Woo, president of Sweet Briar College stated that “Sweet Briar’s curriculum invites students to look squarely upon the problems that our world faces. It empowers women to craft the solutions that our world needs by creating an inclusive environment, and one that seeks out diverse perspectives to address diverse challenges. We’re also giving students what they have shown us they want through their enrollment in majors and minors — the academic programs they have deemed relevant for today and tomorrow.”
