Rice University in Houston, Texas, announced that it has received a collection of materials from folk/pop singer Sara Hickman for its Houston Folk Music Archive at the Woodson Research Center. The vast collection of materials includes concert posters, photographs, albums and fan mail.
Hickman began performing at the age of seven. She has released 18 albums and has performed as a guest artist on more than 25 other albums by other artists. Hickman was named Texas State Musician in 2010.
Norie Guthrie, an archivist librarian at Rice University, stated that “Sara’s amazing donation nicely covers the full scope of her career, and the types of materials show her deep connection to her fans and those that she has helped through charitable works.”
The collection will be available to researchers in early 2018.
