Barbara A. Bichelmeyer to Lead the University of Missouri-Kansas City

Barbara A. Bichelmeyer was named interim chancellor the University of Missouri-Kansas City after current chancellor Leo E. Morton announced that he was leaving his post in October to serve as chief operating officer of the DeBruce Companies.
In 2015, Dr. Bichelmeyer was appointed provost and executive vice chancellor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. She had been serving as executive associate vice president for university academic affairs and senior director of the Office of Online Education at Indiana University in Bloomington. Dr. Bichelmeyer joined the Indiana University faculty in 1996 as an assistant professor of education. She was promoted to associate professor in 2002 and full professor in 2009.
Dr. Bichelmeyer has experience in serving as an interim university leader. During the 2013-14 academic year, she served as interim chancellor for Indiana University Southeast in New Albany.
A Kansas native, Dr. Bichelmeyer earned bachelor’s degrees in journalism and English, a master’s degree in educational policy and administration, and a doctorate in educational communications and technology, all from the University of Kansas.
