University of Michigan Professor Carol Fierke Appointed Provost at Texas A&M University

Carol A. Fierke was named provost and executive vice president at Texas A&M University in College Station. The university system’s board of regents also granted her tenure.
Dr. Fierke has been serving as dean of the Rackham Graduate School and vice provost for graduate academic affairs at the University of Michigan. She also was the Jerome and Isabella Karle Distinguished University Professor of Chemistry and also held the title of professor of biochemistry at the university’s medical school. Professor Fierke joined the faculty at the University of Michigan in 1999 after teaching at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Dr. Fierke is a graduate of Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota, where she majored in chemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts, and did postdoctoral research at Pennsylvania State University.
