Three Women Among the Four Finalists for Dean of Veterinary School at the University of Georgia

The University of Georgia has announced a field of four candidates for dean of the university’s College of Veterinary Medicine. All four candidates will visit the veterinary school by February 15 to meet with members of the college community and to make a public presentation. Three of the four candidates are women.

Elizabeth M. Hardie is a professor and chair of the department of clinical sciences at the College of Veterinary Medicine at North Carolina State University. She joined the faculty at the university in 1985 as an assistant professor of animal surgery. Dr. Hardie is a summa cum laude graduate of Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. She earned her doctorate in veterinary medicine at Cornell University and a Ph.D. from the University of Georgia.

Carolyn Henry is a professor and associate dean for research and graduate studies at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She joined the faculty at the University of Missouri in 1997 after teaching at Washington State University. Dr. Henry is a magna cum laude graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where she double majored in animal science and biology. She holds a doctor of veterinary medicine and a master’s degree in small animal surgery and medicine from Auburn University in Alabama.

Lisa Nolan is a professor and the Stephen G. Juelsgaard Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University. She joined the faculty at Iowa State in 2003 after teaching at North Dakota State University. Dr. Nolan is a graduate of Valdosta State College in Georgia, where she majored in biology. She holds a doctorate of veterinary medicine, a master’s degree, and a Ph.D. in medical microbiology from the University of Georgia.
