In Memoriam: Dolly Diane Purvis Loyd, 1943-2016

Dolly Loyd, instructor emerita of marketing at the University of Southern Mississippi, died on October 29 in Hattiesburg. She was 73 years old.

A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Loyd earned bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi. After working in the retail industry, Loyd joined the faculty at the university in 1979 and taught marketing there for 35 years. She retired in 2104.

For 30 years, Loyd was the faculty advisor to the student chapter of the American Marketing Association and also an advisor to the Kappa Alpha Order. The Dolly Loyd Marketing Scholarship Endowment has been established by the university in her honor.
