In Memoriam: Justine P. Roth, 1970-2016

Justine Roth, an associate professor of chemistry at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, was found dead in her home in Baltimore County on July 18. She was 46 years old. University officials had asked the police to look in on Dr. Roth after she did not respond to telephone calls or e-mails. The cause of death has not been determined but police said there was no indication of foul play.
Dr. Roth joined the faculty at Johns Hopkins University in 2003. Her research focused on metal containing radical enzymes involved in energy production in mammals and photosynthesis in plants.
Dr. Rother was a graduate of the University of Florida and held a Ph.D. from the University of Washington. She completed a National Institutes of Health postdoctoral fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley.
