Michelle Anderson Named President of Brooklyn College in New York

Michelle Anderson, the new president of Brooklyn CollegeThe board of trustees of the City University of New York appointed Michelle J. Anderson as the tenth president of Brooklyn College in New York City. The college enrolls more than 14,000 undergraduate students and more than 3,000 graduate students. Brooklyn College is one of the most ethnically diverse educational institutions in the nation. Women make up 59 percent of the undergraduate student body. When she takes office on August 1, Professor Anderson will be the second woman to lead Brooklyn College.

President Anderson has been serving as a professor and dean of the City University of New York School of Law. She has held that post since 2006. Earlier, she taught at the Villanova University School of Law in Pennsylvania.

Professor Anderson is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Cruz and Yale Law School, where she was the notes editor of the Yale Law Journal. She later added a master’s degree in law from the Georgetown University Law Center.
