Six Women Faculty Members Appointed to New Positions

Jeannette R. Ickovics was appointed the Samuel and Liselotte Herman Professor of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. She has been serving as a professor of epidemiology and public health and a professor of psychology in the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Yale.
Professor Ickovics is a graduate of Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in applied social psychology from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Jane D. McLeod was named Provost Professor at Indiana University. Faculty designated Provost Professors have achieved local, national, and international distinction in teaching and research. Dr. McLeod joined the faculty at Indiana University in 1998 after teaching at the University of Minnesota.
Professor McLeod holds a bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree in sociology, a master of public health degree and a Ph.D. in sociology, all from the University of Michigan.
Taja-Nia Y. Henderson was promoted to full professor of law at the Rutgers University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey. She joined the law school’s faculty in 2010. Earlier, she was an associate in the litigation group of Arnold & Porter LLP in New York.
Professor Henderson is a graduate of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire. She holds a master’s degree, a law degree, and a Ph.D., all from New York University.
Renu Malhotra was named a Regents Professor at the University of Arizona. She is the Louise Foucar Marshall Science Research Professor in the university’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory. Professor Malhotra joined the faculty at the university in 2000.
Dr. Malhotra holds a master’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Delhi. She earned a Ph.D. in physics at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Shana Levin, the Crown Professor of Psychology at Claremont McKenna College in Claremont, California, is taking on additional duties as associate dean of the faculty for research at the college. She will begin this new role on July 1. Professor Levin joined the faculty at the college in 1998.
Dr. Levin is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Diane Lipscombe, professor of neuroscience at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, was named director of the Brown Institute for Brain Science. The institute includes 120 scholars from the university and its affiliated hospitals.
Dr. Lipscombe hold a bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. in pharmacology from University College London. She did postdoctoral studies at the medical schools of Yale University and Stanford University.
