The New Leader of Kent State University-Stark in North Canton, Ohio

Denise A. Seachrist is the new dean and chief administrative officer at the Stark Campus of Kent State University in North Canton, Ohio. Dr. Seachrist has served as interim dean of Kent State-Stark since July 2014. The campus is the only public university in Stark County and the largest regional campus of Kent State University. Total enrollment at the campus is more than 4,600 students. Women are 60 percent of the student body.
From 2008 to 2014, Dr. Seachrist was a professor and director of the School of Music at Kent State University. Her research is focused on the historical and contemporary music of German religious communities in Pennsylvania. Her latest book is Snow Hill: In the Shadows of the Ephrata Cloister (Kent State University Press, 2010).
Dr. Seachrist is a graduate of Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. She holds a master’s degree in vocal performance from Youngstown State University and a Ph.D. in musicology/ethnomusicology from Kent State University.
