New Administrative Jobs for Six Women in Higher Education

Barbara J. Carroll was named associate vice chancellor and chief human resources officer at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. For the past 11 years she has served as associate vice chancellor and chief human resources officer at North Carolina State University in Raleigh. Carroll will begin her duties at Vanderbilt in January.
Carroll is chair of the board of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. She holds a bachelor’s degree and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.
Evelyn J. Leggette was promoted to provost and vice president for academic and student affairs at Jackson State University in Mississippi. Since 2014, she has served as associate vice president for academic affairs. Earlier, Dr. Leggette was dean of undergraduate studies and a professor of education.
Dr. Leggette is a graduate of Rust College in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Southern Mississippi and a Ph.D from Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
Linda Bonnin was appointed vice president for strategic communications at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Since 2014, she has held a similar position at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. Earlier, Bonnin served on the staff at the University of Memphis for 17 years.
A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Bonnin is a graduate of Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas.
Paulette Patterson Dilworth was named vice president for diversity, equity, and inclusion at the University of Alabama-Birmingham. She has been serving as assistant vice president for access and communication initiatives at Auburn University in Alabama.
Dr. Dilworth is a graduate of Florida A&M University in Tallahassee. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in educational studies from Emory University in Atlanta.
Lisa Wilkes was promoted to associate vice president for administration at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. She was assistant vice president for business services. She has been on the university’s staff for 20 years.
Dr. Wilkes holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Radford University in Virginia. She earned a Ph.D. at Virginia Tech.
Cindy R. Love is the new director of career counseling and professional development at Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. She is the former director of the student professional development program in the School of Business at North Carolina Central University in Durham.
Dr. Love holds a master of public administration degree from North Carolina Central University and a doctorate in leadership studies from North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro.
