Safiya Sinclair Receives $25,800 Fellowship Award From The Poetry Foundation

Safiya Sinclair, a Dornsife Doctoral Fellow at the University of Southern California, has won a 2015 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellowship from The Poetry Foundation. The award, which comes with a $25,800 prize, is open to all U.S. poets between the ages of 21 and 31.
Earlier this year, Sinclair received the 2015 Prairie Schooner Book Prize for Poetry. As a result of that award, her poetry collection, Cannibal, will be published next year by the University of Nebraska Press.
Sinclair, a native of Montego Bay, Jamaica, is the author of Catacombs (Argos Books, 2011), a chapbook of poetry and essays. She is a graduate of Bennington College in southwestern Vermont. She holds a master of fine arts degree from the University of Virginia and is currently completing work on a doctoral degree in literature and creating writing at the University of Southern California.
