Coty Richardson was an assistant professor of exercise science at Northwest Christian University in Eugene, Oregon. She became pregnant but was not married to the father of her child.
According to Richardson, her supervisor told her that she had to end the relationship with the father of her child or get married. Richardson declined and was relieved of her faculty post.
Richardson has now filed a lawsuit against the university for wrongful termination. Her lawsuit claims that men who have fathered child out-of-wedlock were allowed to keep their jobs at the university.
