Sachiko Tsuruta to Be Honored by the International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics in Rome

Sachiko Tsuruta, a professor of astrophysics at Montana State University in Bozeman, has been selected to receive the Marcel Grossman Prize from the International Center for Relativistic Astrophysics in Rome, Italy. The award is given out every three years. Professor Tsuruta is being honored for her pioneering work on neutron starts.
A native of Yokohama, Japan, Professor Tsuruta earned a bachelor’s degree at the University of Washington. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. from Columbia University.
After earning her Ph.D. more than a half century ago, Dr. Tsuruta worked for the Smithsonian Institution and what is now the Harvard Center for Astrophysics. She joined the full-time faculty at Montana State University in 1989.
