Two Women Named Finalists for Dean of the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin

After a four-month search process, the University of Wisconsin at Madison has selected two women as finalists for the position of dean of the School of Education. Soon, the two candidates will participate in series of interviews and presentations on the Madison campus. Both finalists are professors at the university.
Dorothy Farrar Edwards is a professor and chair of the department of kinesiology at the University of Wisconsin. She joined the faculty at the university in 2006 after teaching at Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Edwards is a graduate of Loyola University in New Orleans, where she majored in psychology. She holds a Ph.D. in experimental psychology from Washington University.
Diana E. Hess is senior vice president at the Spencer Foundation in Chicago. She is also a professor in the department of curriculum and instruction in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Hess joined the faculty at the university in 1999. Professor Hess is a graduate of Western Illinois University in Macomb. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. from the University of Washington.
Update: One June 2, 2015, Dr. Hess was named dean.
