Gail Hackett Named Provost at Virginia Commonwealth University

Gail Hackett has been selected as the next provost and vice president for academic affairs at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. She has been serving as provost and executive vice chancellor at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Hackett will begin her new job on March 1.
Before becoming provost at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Dr. Hackett held several posts, including vice provost and dean of University College, during a 20-year career at Arizona State University. Earlier hs taught at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Ohio State University.
Dr. Hackett holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology, a master’s degree in counseling and a Ph.D. in counseling psychology, all from Pennsylvania State University.
