In Memoriam: Mary Ellen Nelsen Zamon, 1943-2014

Mary Zamon, who retired in 2013 from the post of director of academic program review of the Office of Institutional Assessment at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, died on November 7. She was 71 years old and had suffered from cancer.
Dr. Zamon joined the staff at George Mason University in 2002 as director of undergraduate academic affairs in the College of Arts and Sciences. She moved to the Office of Institutional Assessment in 2007. Dr. Zamon also served as an adjunct lecturer at the university and was founding sponsor of the peer-reviewed Journal of Mason Graduate Research.
Dr. Zamon earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Georgetown University. She earned a second master’s degree in education from Webster University and a doctorate from the Graduate School of Education at George Mason University.
