The City College of New York has partnered with Standard Chartered Bank to establish a program to support women entrepreneurs. The bank is funding the two-year, $575,000 program that will be called the Standard Chartered Technology Incubator for Women Entrepreneurs.
The main components of the new program will be:
* A new course on women and entrepreneurship at the City College of New York.
* Free office space and access to office equipment for women entrepreneurs in the program.
* An entrepreneurship competition with a cash prize for the winning team.
Elena Sturman, executive director of the City College Fund, stated that “this is the first-of-it-kind incubator program in New York City and a remarkable gesture by the bank to empower women.”
