Two Women Join the Faculty of the Department of Dairy Science at Virginia Tech

Rebecca Cockrum was named an assistant professor of dairy science in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg. She was a postdoctoral fellow in beef cattle breeding at Colorado State University.
Dr. Cockrum is a graduate of Arkansas State University. She holds a master’s degree and a doctorate in breeding and genetics from the University of Wyoming, where she was president of the Animal Science Graduate Student Association.
Kristy Daniels was also named an assistant professor of dairy science. She has served as a postdoctoral research assistant at the Bovine Functional Genomics Laboratory of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and as an assistant professor at the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center in Wooster.
Dr. Daniels is a graduate of Michigan State University. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in animal sciences with a concentration in dairy science at Virginia Tech.
