Texas A&M University-San Antonio President to Take on a New Assignment

Maria Hernandez Ferrier, the inaugural president of Texas A&M University-San Antonio, has announced that she will leave her post on December 31, 2014 in order to become director of development and Mexico relations for the Texas A&M System. In this role she will oversee programs dealing with Mexico for all 11 universities in the Texas A&M system.
Dr. Ferrier has served as president of Texas A&M University-San Antonio since February 2010. Previously, she served as the director of the Office of English Language Acquisition, Language Enhancement, and Academic Achievement for Limited English Proficient Students at the U.S. Department of Education.
Dr. Ferrier is a graduate of Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio. She holds a doctorate in educational administration from Texas A&M University.
