Mississippi University for Women Reports Increase in Enrollments

muwThe Mississippi University for Women in Columbus reports that this fall there are 2,697 students enrolled. This is the highest enrollment in more than a decade. First-year enrollments are up 30 percent from a year ago. About 89 percent of the total enrollments are students from Mississippi and African Americans are 37 percent of the student body. The university also enrolls students from 25 other states and 11 foreign countries.

The university has been coeducational since 1982. This year men make up 19 percent of the total enrollments, up from 18 percent a year ago and 17 percent in 2012.
