Luther College in Iowa Add Six Women to Its Faculty

luther_college_logoLuther College in Decorah, Iowa, enrolls about 2,500 students. Women make up 57 percent of the student body. The college announced that there are seven new faculty members on campus this fall and six of the new hires are women.

bossardElaine Bossard is a visiting professor of psychology. She was an instructor at the University of Iowa. The author of two published two articles in the Journal of Behavioral Decision Making, Bossard is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Iowa. She is currently a doctoral candidate in social psychology at the University of Iowa.

brummelRachel Brummel is an assistant professor of environmental studies. She was an assistant professor of environmental studies at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania. Dr. Brummel is a graduate of Grinnell College in Iowa, where she majored in biology. She holds a Ph.D. in conservation biology from the University of Minnesota.

cordBrittany Cord is a visiting instructor in accounting and management. She is a former instructor at Northeast Iowa Community College and has served as manager of financial planning at Texas A&M University. Cord is a graduate of the University of Iowa and holds a master’s degree in business administration from Texas A&M University.

duanXiaolin Duan is a visiting professor of history. She was an instructor at the University of Washington and also served as an assistant curator of Chinese art for the Seattle Art Museum. Duan is a graduate of Peking University in China, where she majored in art and art history. She holds a master’s degree and is a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Washington.

johnsonMaren Johnson was hired as an assistant professor of Scandinavian studies. She was a teaching assistant in the Scandinavian studies program at the University of Washington, where she taught the Norwegian language. Dr. Johnson is a graduate of Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in Scandinavian language and literature from the University of Washington.

wilsonJill Wilson is an assistant professor of education. She was an instructor of music education at Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. Dr. Wilson is a graduate of St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota. She holds a master’s degree in music education from the University of Northern Iowa and a doctorate in music education from Boston University.
