Tufts University Scholar Is the New President of the American Society for Nutrition

Simin Nikbin Meydani, professor in the School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences, professor in the School of Nutrition Science and Policy, and the director of the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University in Massachusetts, is the new president of the American Society for Nutrition. The nonprofit society was founded in 1928 and has about 5,000 members.
Dr. Meydani’s research focuses on nutrition and aging, particularly at is relates to immune response and the prevention of infectious and inflammatory diseases. She earned a doctorate in veterinary medicine at Tehran University in Iran. She holds a Ph.D. in nutrition from Iowa State University.
