The New Director of the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University

Lindy Elkins-Tanton was named director of the School of Earth and Space Exploration at Arizona State University. She has been serving as the director of the department of terrestrial magnetism at the Carnegie Institution for Science in Washington, D.C. Dr. Elkins-Tanton will begin her new duties at Arizona State on July 1.
Dr. Elkins-Tanton’s research focuses on planet formation and evolution. She holds a bachelor’s degree in geology and a master’s degree in geochemistry from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She then spent five years writing business plans for high-tech ventures before returning to MIT to earn her Ph.D. She is the author of the six-book series The Solar System from Facts on File that can be purchased separately or in a set.
