Here is this week’s news of grants and gifts that may be of particular interest to women in higher education.
Harper College in Palatine, Illinois, received a $1 million gift from Rita and John Canning for the women’s program at the college. The program will be renamed in honor of the donors. The women’s program, established in 1970, helps low-income women reach their educational and employment goals through personal support, career planning services, and networking. The gift is the largest in the college’s history.
The Georgetown University Law Center received a $1 million donation from April McClain Delaney and John Delaney, both graduate of the law school. The donation will fund the establishment of the Hillary Clinton Fellowship program that will provide funding for law school graduates to work for one year at the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace & Security. The gift will also support the establishment of the Delaney Fellowship program and the Delaney Scholars summer program.
