Former Superintendent of Boston Public Schools to Teach at Vanderbilt University

Carol R. Johnson, the former superintendent of the Boston Public School System, has joined the faculty at the Peabody College of Education and Human Development at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She will begin teaching at the university in January as a visiting professor in the department of leadership, policy, and organizations.
Dr. Johnson served as superintendent in Massachusetts’ largest school district from 2007 to 2013. She also led the public school systems in Memphis from 2003 to 2007 and Minneapolis from 1997 to 2003.
Dr. Johnson is a graduate of Fisk University in Nashville, where she majored in elementary education. She holds master’s and doctoral degrees from the University of Minnesota.
