The Next President of the Association of Consumer Research

Amna Kirmani, professor of marketing at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland in College Park, has been elected president of the Association of Consumer Research. She will take office on January 1. The 1,700-member association facilitates the exchange of information on consumer research between industry, government, and the academic world.
Dr. Kirmani, who heads the business Ph.D. program at the University of Maryland, is the associate editor of the Journal of Marketing and the Journal of Consumer Psychology. She joined the faculty at the University of Maryland in 2006. She previously taught at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, the University of Florida, and Duke University.
Professor Kirmani is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Maryland. She earned an MBA at Cornell University and a Ph.D. in marketing at Stanford University.
