Salem College President to Retire Next June

Susan E. Pauly, the nineteenth president of Salem College, the liberal arts educational institution for women in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, has announced that she will step down from her post on June 30, 2014. Before becoming president of Salem College in 2006, Dr. Pauly was vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Earlier she was director of strategic planning for the University of South Carolina at Lancaster.
Dr. Pauly is a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After teaching in Costa Rica, she returned to the United States and earned her master’s degree and Ph.D. in English at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
