Texas Woman’s University in Denton received a $420,000 donation from the estate of alumna Agnes C. Talley. The gift is the largest ever made to the university’s athletics program. The donation will be used to provide scholarships for student athletes at the university.
Talley played badminton and field hockey for what was then Texas State College for Women. She earned a bachelor’s degree in health physical education, and recreation at the educational institution in 1945. Talley had a 40-year career as a teacher and counselor for the public schools in Waco, Texas. She died last fall at the age of 89.
