University of Massachusetts Scholar Wins Poetry Award

Sandra Lim, an assistant professor of English at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, has been selected as the winner of the 2013 Barnard Women Poets Prize. The award is given to an American women poet for a second collection of poetry. The prize is awarded by Women Poets at Barnard in conjunction with W.W. Norton & Company. The winner comes to Barnard College to read her poetry and the collection is published by W.W. Norton.
Dr. Lim’s first collection of poetry, Loveliest Grotesque (Kore Press) was published in 2006.
Dr. Lim is a native of South Korea but grew up in San Francisco. A graduate of Stanford University, she earned a master of fine arts degree from the Iowa’s Writers Workshop and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Berkeley.
