Students returning from winter break at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, were treated to the opening of the new Women’s Center on campus.
Paige Meltzer, the director of the new center who holds a Ph.D. in women’s history from Brown University, says the she sees the center as a place for collaboration and networking but will let students, faculty, and staff shape the institution’s priorities. She will promote women in leadership positions, professional development activities, and body wellness programs.
“Gender conversations are integral to developing mind, body and spirit,” says Dr. Meltzer “and can help us forge connections within our communities, improve campus culture, and nurture women’s potential. Women who feel respected and empowered build strong communities, strong families, and strong relationships — personal and professional.”
