Jennifer Lewis Named to New Endowed Chair at Harvard University

Jennifer A. Lewis is the inaugural Hansjorg Wyss Professor of Biologically Inspired Engineering at the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Harvard University. Lewis is an expert in 3-D printing which uses computer models to fabricate three-dimensional solid objects. The process is used in making dental crowns, aircraft and automotive parts, as well as many consumer products.
Professor Lewis was serving as the Hans Thurnauer Professor of Materials Science and Engineering and was director of the Frederick Seitz Materials Research Laboratory at the University of Illinois. She joined the University of Illinois faculty in 1990.
Dr. Lewis is a graduate of the University of Illinois and holds a doctorate in ceramics science from MIT.
