Two Women Appointed to New Faculty Positions

Shireen Hafez was appointed as an instructor in anatomy at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. She was an instructor at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Louisiana State University and previously taught at the Alexandria College of Veterinary Medicine in Egypt.
Dr. Hafez is a graduate of the Alexandria College of Veterinary Medicine and holds a doctorate in biomedical and veterinary sciences from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine.
Janice Dowell was appointed associate professor of philosophy at Syracuse University. She is currently an associate professor of philosophy at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. Dr. Dowell has taught at the University of Nebraska since 2007. Previously, she was on the faculty at Bowling Green State University in Ohio. She will begin teaching at Syracuse in the fall of 2013.
Dr. Dowell is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Michigan and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Pittsburgh.
