Boston University Student Crowned Miss Universe

Olivia Culpo, a sophomore at Boston University was crowned Miss Universe in Las Vegas on the evening of December 19. She is the first Miss USA to become Miss Universe since 1997.  Culpo competed for the Miss USA title as the representative of Rhode Island. She grew up in Cranston, Rhode Island.

Culpo is 20 years old and has four siblings. She plays the cello, models, and plans a career in film or television. She had a bit part in the movie comedy, Ted. Culpo will take a year off from school while serving as Miss Universe.
