The New Provost at the University of Arkansas Little Rock

Zulma R. Toro-Ramos was named provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Since 2005, Dr. Toros-Ramos has served as dean of the College of Engineering at Wichita State University in Kansas. Previously, she served as the dean at the School of Engineering and Applied Science at the University of New Haven in Connecticut. Earlier in her career, she was the first woman chancellor at the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaquez.
In accepting the post, Dr. Toro-Ramos stated, “I am honored and excited with the opportunity. I look forward to working with the chancellor and his leadership team, the faculty, students, and staff as we continue to take this wonderful institution to its next level of excellence.” She will assume her new position on January 7, 2013.
Dr. Toros-Ramos is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico, Mayaquez. She earned a master’s degree in industrial and operations engineering at Michigan State University and a Ph.D. in industrial and systems engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
