University of Missouri Kansas City Faculty Member Named Chair of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting

Patricia D. Cahill, assistant professor of communication studies at the University of Missouri Kansas City, was elected chair of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). The CPB is a nonprofit organization created by Congress to promote publicly-owned radio and television stations.
Cahill was appointed to the CPB by President Obama in 2009. She recently stepped down as general manager of KCUR-FM radio, the public radio station operated by the University of Missouri Kansas City. She served in that post for 25 years. Earlier in her career, she was general manager of KMUW-FM at Wichita State University, where she also was an instructor in speech communications and journalism.
Professor Cahill holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Kansas.
