Worcester Polytechnic Institute Enrolls Its Largest Class of First-Year Women Students

The curriculum at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts is focused on science and engineering. The fastest growing majors on the WPI campus are biomedical engineering, robotics, game design, and environmental engineering.

Women have traditionally made up a small percentage of the student body at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. But WPI has made a concerted effort to increase the number of women on campus. The university’s admissions office has a special web page dedicated to recruiting women and the university has established the Office of Diversity and Women’s Programs.

This fall, WPI welcome its largest class of first-year women students. There are 314 women in the Class of 2016. They make up 32 percent of the entering class.
