Virginia Tech Awards Emerita Status to Two Women Professors

Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg has announced that two women professors have been honored with emerita status.
Linda Arnold was named professor emerita of history. A member of the Virginia Tech community for 29 years, Professor Arnold is an expert on the history of Mexican law. She is the author of 12 books.
Dr. Arnold is a graduate of California State University Long Beach. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin.
Beverly Purswell was appointed professor emerita of large animal clinical sciences at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. She pioneered research on how hypothyroidism impacts the reproductive health of dogs. She has been a member of the faculty at Virginia Tech for 27 years.
Professor Purswell holds a master’s degree, a Ph.D., and a doctorate in veterinary medicine, all from the University of Georgia.
