Three Major Appointments of Women at Southern Illinois University Carbondale

Anne Cooper Moore was named dean of library affairs at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. She has been serving as dean of university libraries at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion. Before assuming that position in 2008, she taught at Simmons College and was a librarian at the University of Massachusetts.
A graduate of Duke University, Dr. Moore holds a master’s degree from Boston University and a master of library and information sciences degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She earned a doctorate in educational management and development from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces.
Karla S. Berry was named director of the Center for Teaching Excellence at the university. She will also serve as an associate professor in the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts. Most recently, she has been a consultant to a number of corporations and colleges on media-related projects. In the past, she has served on the faculties at Northeastern Illinois University, the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, and the University of South Carolina. She was dean of the School of Media and Communication at National University in San Diego.
Professor Berry is a graduate of the University of Missouri and holds a master of fine arts degree from the Art Institute of Chicago.
Dafna Lemish was named interim dean of the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts. She has been serving since 2010 as chair of the department of radio and television. Previously, she was a professor of communication at Tel Aviv University in Israel.
A graduate of Tel Aviv University, Dr. Lemish earned a master’s degree at Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a doctorate in communication at Ohio State University,
