New Global Women’s Institute to Debut at George Washington University

George Washington University has announced the establishment of the Global Women’s Institute. The goal of the new institute, which will debut this fall, is to “enhance the roles of women and girls worldwide through research, teaching, and engaged service in the areas of health, education, rights and security.”
Mary Ellsberg has been named director of the Global Women’s Institute. She was vice president for research and programs at the International Center for Research on Women in Washington, D.C. A graduate of Yale University, where she majored in Latin American studies, Dr. Ellsberg holds a doctorate in epidemiology and public health from Umeå University in Sweden.
