The Center on Education Policy was established in 1995 as a research organization and think-tank to promote educational improvement. The center has now found a new home at the George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
The university has appointed Maria Voles Ferguson as the executive director of the center, effective June 4. She comes to George Washington University from the Alliance for Excellent Education, a nonprofit organization based in Washington, D.C. She was vice president for policy at the alliance. Previously, she was director of the National School Boards Foundation and director of communication and outreach services for the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education.
