Grinnell College Promotes Three Women Faculty Members

Grinnell College, the highly rated liberal arts college in Iowa, has announced the promotions of eight faculty members. Three of these promotions have gone to women.

Jin Feng was promoted to full professor of Chinese and Japanese. She is the author of The Making of a Family Saga: Ginling College (SUNY Press, 2009) and The New Woman in Early Twentieth-Century Chinese Fiction (Purdue University Press).

Professor Feng is a graduate of Fudan University in Shanghai, China. She holds a master’s degree from the University of Illinois and a Ph.D. in Chinese language and literatures from the University of Michigan.

Elaine Marzluff was named a full professor of chemistry at Grinnell College. Her research is focused on the structure and dissociation mechanisms and energetics of peptides and proteins in the gas phase.

Professor Marzluff is a graduate of Harvard University. She holds a Ph.D. in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology.

Janet Davis was promoted to associate professor of computer science and granted tenure. Dr. Davis is a graduate of Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California. She holds a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Washington.
