Provost at Iowa State to Leave Post by the End of the Year

Elizabeth Hoffman, executive vice president and provost at Iowa State University, has announced that she will step down at the end of 2012. She is the former president of the University of Colorado system and earlier served as provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs at the University of Illinois at Chicago and dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University. Recently, she was a finalist for the presidency of the University of New Mexico.
In announcing her intention to leave Iowa State, Dr. Hoffman stated she continues to look at other opportunities in higher education.
Dr. Hoffman is a graduate of Smith College. She earned a master’s degree and a Ph.D. in history from the University of Pennsylvania. She holds a second Ph.D. in economics from CalTech.
